Digital Scrapbook Pages

Hello everyone! It has been forever since my last post. My craft room has been neglected for many weeks now. It has been dark in there, except for the times when John (the Hubs) is in there notating and writing music. For the moment, until he decides how he wants his own room to look like, his computer and his music writing stuff will be in my craft room.

For the past couple of weeks, I have been on Skype with the family on and off... making sure that I stay in close contact with everybody back home. Everyone, including the family here has gone through a rough start to 2011, with Brandi going in and out of the hospital during the holidays, Grandma R's diverticulitis, my Uncle back home getting a stroke, a death in the not-so-immediate family, the awful stomach flu that left me coughing and wheezing for a week now, and the bad weather, it has been crazy.

Amid all these, I am still very very grateful. John and I still feel blessed considering the circumstances. I have only started feeling good the past 2-3 days. So those few days, I have been trying to get caught up with laundry and other housework... two days later, I could finally see some kind of progress, I finally made a dent in the to-do list. Yay! ; )

From the stomach flu, I have developed a new love affair with digital scrapbooking. I have been doing this on and off the past year, but when I got sick, I was feeling so bad, I just wanted to sleep all the time... and the whole time I was awake i would hurt so I looked for something to do that didn't involve getting up (because I got dizzy when I did) so I started digital scrapping because I have been going through some serious crafting withdrawal and I was too sick to go to the craft room to cut or glue anything. I did 3-4 pages...

The materials I used in this project is a mix of freebies from CK and stuff I had purchased in the past.
I used Aperture 3 to enhance the photo and processed it some more on Photoshop.

I don't think there is a freebie element on this page. Everything on here is an element from a kit I purchased
a while back. I love dots and spots and scallops and swirls, can you tell?

I used a brush on this one that I purchased a couple of months back.
Actually I think this is a brush from a spring set I have. lol

I am a font download freak. I download fonts like it's nobody's business. So pretty much, every font you see in my pages, are all my favorite fonts. I rarely ever use the pre-installed fonts on my computer. I just love downloading stuff in general especially when they are FREE! *winks* Here's the last page:

I have been working on this page since August 2010!!!
I finally finished it, thanks, I guess, to the stomach flu. LOL

Til the next post, everyone!!!

XOXO

Vanessa

The Crafty Pad November 28 Challenge

I love very clean and simple cards... When Debbie sent me this digi, I thought it was the second cutest thing next to the holly mouse with bauble. : ) This week's theme was snow flakes. I didn't make big ones, but instead I used Ranger Diamond Stickles on the outline of the snowmen to show micro-small glittery snowflakes. And for the background, I used papers from BG's Jovial collection. My personal favorite is that one with all kinds of snowmen on it. I think it looked really good with the digital image. It's your turn. Play along at The Crafty Pad and you could win a prize!

Supplies used:

Papertrey Ink Poppy Red cardstock
White cardstock
Ribbon
Copic Markers or whatever kind you have will work
Ranger Diamond Stickles
Basic Grey Jovial Collection

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I pray that everyone is cozy and warm... and having a great time with your family and the people you love. Today I will be with family and we will be feasting at around noon and will be hanging out all day (and eating some more later on!)

Let us all remember to make it a daily habit to think about the things/people we are thankful for! God bless everyone! I am getting ready to roll up my sleeves and feast on some tasty homemade food!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Happy Birthday Aunt Betty!

It is 1:56 AM of November 20th, so it's officially Betty's birthday. I may be wrong but I think it is her 86th. She is very special to all of us, especially to me and John. At noon today, the family will be gathering and celebrating her birthday. : ) Everyone's bringing something and of course, I made the cake. So here's what I came up with...

The cake is inspired by one of Toni Brancatisano's creations. I just added a monogrammed tag that I cut with my Cricut Cake using the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge and I used the Elegant Cakes cartridge to cut the letter B

I had planned on chartreuse but my green food color didn't kind of work like I thought. But I think it turned out pretty good for a first time.
The cake came out really really moist and tasty. The fondant turned out really perfect. The gum paste was great... I just wish my work surface took it easy on me but that's fine, I had so much fun making it and the mat from Sweet Wise Inc worked like a charm!!! I can't wait for the next cake I am making!!!

We'll find out later what Betty thinks! : )

Here's a very happy Betty!!!

With Heartfelt Thanks - The Cuttlebug Spot

Hi everyone!!! Here's my piece for Cuttlebug Spot's November 16th Challenge. : ) It is a very simple THANK YOU card. I thought if I was going to be giving this away to family friends who have joined us for thanksgiving, I had better make something that is easy to mass produce. So I came up with this card... It's easy, clean and simple. I cut the oval layers with my Cricut using the Sure Cuts A Lot software and I used Basic Grey's Pyrus Stamp Set and heat embossed it.

Supplies:

Paper Trey Ink True Black cardstock
Paper Trey Ink Poppy Red cardstock
White Cardstock
Yellow polka dot paper from DCWV
Dimensional Adhesive
Corner Chomper
Cuttlebug Divine Swirls Embossing Folder
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder
